Vacheron Constantin presents "Overseas" Dual Time Zone Launch at Clifford Pier

The Clifford Pier, Probably the first and last private event to be held here.

Clifford Pier, the oldest and best-known pier in the history of Singapore witnessed its first ever private event for 150 guests on 10 November 2006, hosted by partners Vacheron Constantin and Cortina Watch.

From its stunning architecture to its waterfront location and soaring arched ceiling, Clifford Pier has since 1933 marked the passage of time in welcoming thousands of visitors and travellers to Singapore. From the theme of travel, journeys and the rich heritage of the watch brand, there is no more ideal a venue than historic Clifford Pier. The occasion for the event is the 10th Anniversary Celebration of the dynamic "Overseas" Collection, a watch created specifically for those who travel across continents.

For one night only, guests were treated to a party at the stunning location, where the evening’s theme of jet-set travel was carried throughout. The event kicked off with a stunning laser light show, and the dramatic thunder of a Japanese ‘Taiko’ drummer, followed by sharp military-style rap of a Western snare-drummer. Six models styled to represent key continents – Asia, Europe, Australia and America – made their appearance to the fanfare.

Both Eastern and Western drummers merged, in an explosive joint performance for the arrival of Mr Jean-Michel Paray, Managing Director of Vacheron Constantin, Asia Pacific, who made an entrance carrying a leather travelling case bearing the "Overseas" Dual Time Zone watch.

Guests were welcomed with a greeting address by Mr Jean-Michel Paray and a speech by Mr Jeremy Lim, Regional General Manager of Cortina Watch, before the pair proceeded to unveil and present the limited-edition rose gold Dual Time "Overseas" watch, a collector’s edition limited to only 250 pieces in the world.

Guests were then invited to feast at four lavish food stations with customized cuisine from Asia, Europe, Australia and America. Each dinner station featured a signature "Overseas" bezel clock projected overhead showing ‘local’ time in a key city in its respective continent. Guests enjoyed a wide spread of gourmet treats ranging from the Sydney rock oyster bar and roasted lamb from Australia to the pan-fried goose liver station and seafood paella from Europe, and the San Francisco crab cakes and New York classic cheese cake from America to the sashimi, Peking duck station and chilled sake bar from Asia.
