The Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie, founded in Geneva in the autumn of 2005, aims to promote the values of mechanical, technical and precious Fine Watchmaking and unite all its players.
The Fondation, incorporated in autumn 2005, is a private foundation created at the initiative of three founder-members:
- Audemars Piguet, represented by Jasmine Audemars
- Girard-Perregaux, represented by Luigi Macaluso
- Richemont Group, represented by Franco Cologni
These founder-members have instituted a Council, the Conseil de Fondation, currently chaired by Franco Cologni. The Council, which is elected for one year, is renewed every year. Its next renewal will take place in October 2006. Its members are all acknowledged professionals and personalities in the field of Fine Watchmaking.
The Council is the supreme body of the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie. It defines its strategy, priorities and areas of activity. It co-opts new members, approves accounts and appoints the Executive Committee (Directoire).
The Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie operates in two distinct and complementary fields: cultural and institutional activities - as Centre Culturel de la Haute Horlogerie- and promotional activities through exhibitions and events dedicated to Fine Watches, with the latter nurturing the former.
The Foundation’s day-to-day management is entrusted to its Managing Director, Mrs Fabienne Lupo Magnaudet, who also oversees the practical organisation of the different events and exhibitions staged by the Foundation. The director of the Centre d’Etudes et de Recherche is Mr Dominique Fléchon, a recognised international watchmaking expert. The Secretary-General of the Centre Culturel de la Haute Horlogerie is Mr Jean-Claude Roustant.
To advance towards its objective, A Press Release by the Fondation noted that it has officially launched its website on 25th September 2006. The Foundation aims to be the first reference portal comprising the most extensive existing knowledge base in the field of Fine Watchmaking.
